Duringng a speech in the House of Lords on Thursday, 20th October, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesman, Lord Dholakia, called on the Government to implement measures to reduce the instances of self-harm and suicide amongst prisoners.
“High quality services should be available for prisoners with mental health problems and addiction problems. Everything possible must be done to design or modify cells in ways which reduce opportunities for suicide by eliminating ligature points.”
