Independent on Sunday Preview LifeSIGNS’ Research
You may have seen LifeSIGNS on page 29 of today’s Independent on Sunday, and you can read the article online too, see ‘Why teenagers resort to self harm‘.
The article briefly introduces the idea of self-harm as a coping mechanism, and discusses some ideas found in our major questionnaire study of 2006 that Mary is currently analysing, and we’ll be sure to publish the full results well before Self Injury Awareness Day [SIAD: 1st of March]
As always with newspaper articles, we have to understand that the journalist has different priorities and a different audience than LifeSIGNS, and so we can’t be surprised if ‘the media’ focusses on different areas, or uses words that we wouldn’t use…
