Highest Hit Count
We got a load of hits in January, just shy of 3,500 unique individuals surfed the LifeSIGNS website in January 2005.
When I say 3,500 unique individuals, I really mean that; most websites count non-unique ‘hits’. Hits get recorded for every resource that is called from the server, and so a web page with 15 images on it will generate 16 ‘hits’ (1 page plus 15 images = 16).
It’s confusing when webmasters go on and on about having “30,000 hits last week” as, unless it’s a site that has a strong community, or has daily news on it, the webmaster is talking complete rubbish. Hits are not people.
We only count people, not hits, and so, at near 3,500 people surfing our site in January alone, I think we can safely say that we’re becoming better known.
