Student Doctors Get Trained

As one of the Trainers for LifeSIGNS, I get to roam around the country delivering Self Injury Awareness Training to anyone who’ll accept it!

It’s great to be able to work so closely with the NHS so often, and today I was in front of a class of student doctors at a training hospital.

I’m always a little nervous, and it’s hard to keep my flow going in the short time I’m allotted, but they were a good bunch, and I hope they appreciated our glossy Leaflet, and our Pre-cursors to SI factsheet; they asked some pretty decent and intelligent questions, so I have high hopes they’ll be able to treat people who SI with respect and compassion – they are bound to come across people who self-injure during their career after all.

I’m very proud that Sarah,
Nick and I are able to train professional health-care workers, (such as nurses, and counsellors) and spread the work of LifeSIGNS and raise awareness about the ‘difficult’ subject of self-injury. We’re not counsellors, we’re not psychologist – no, we’re volunteers, like all the Management Committee members of LifeSIGNS, we’re people who used to be members of LifeSIGNS, and have volunteered our time and skills to help run it. (Have you welcomed our new Directors, Nick, Janet and Kay??)

Stop wondering how self-injury affects your members and clients; get awareness training now

Self Injury Training from LifeSIGNS really gives an insight into the complex behaviours and thoughts behind self-injury; we try really hard to put a ‘human face’ on the syndrome of self-injury, and we speak from personal experience.
