SIAD is *today*
The day that we’ve been working towards throughout February has finally arrived. Today is Self-Injury Awareness Day, or SIAD.
We are in the West Midlands today for Walsall Safeguarding Children Board’s awareness event, where they will launch their new staff guidelines for supporting children and young people who turn to self-injury. We’ll be there from 12pm tp 2pm so if you’re in the area please do pop along and meet Wedge and Jules.
If you can’t make the real life event, then please do join our virtual event on Facebook. You don’t have to go anywhere, or do anything except ‘click’ your attendance. It’s just a small way of showing support for SIAD and for LifeSIGNS.
Later in the day we’ll be meeting up with Rachel for our Directors’ Meeting. We have *big* plans for LifeSIGNS this year and beyond, so there’s lots to discuss :)
Our future plans are primarily focused on reaching more people who self-injure, and in order to achieve that we need more volunteers. We’ll be updating our recruitment page with specific roles in the near future, but if you already know you’d like to be more involved with LifeSIGNS as an organisation and join our team, then please do contact us now.
If you’re hosting your own SIAD event, however humble, we’d love to hear about it. Please email info@lifesigns.org.uk or send us a Tweet, a Tumblr message, or post it on our Facebook Page.
I always say this, but it’s true so I’ll say it again. SIAD is really important because it gives focus to self-injury for one day around the world. But in reality, every day is SIAD for us at LifeSIGNS. We work every day of the year, and we do it for you, to make a difference, so that in time *nobody* will suffer in silence.
If you’ve supported us by buying a wristband or key ring, or by sending us a donation, thank you very very much indeed. We run on a tiny budget, and we couldn’t continue our work without your support.
Thank you, and have a great SIAD.
