Supervised self harm plan praised – an interesting, controversial and thought provoking scheme. Is this a step in the right direction? A validation or encouragement of self harm? Is it viable in light of the fact that for many people who self-harm the act is very private and hidden?
These are just a couple of the questions that were raised for me when I read about this scheme, ones that I haven’t yet managed to answer for myself and wonder what others think?

April 22, 2006i’ve tried it and found at that time it helped. i needed someone around at a time when i was lonely but also if she thought i was losing control would also act as a diversion so i could regain control. but this isn’t something that would be helpful everytime though.

April 17, 2006I read this and initially though ‘oh for f**** sake’. I had planned to write a blog entry about it, but found I didn’t know what I wanted to write. I too am having difficulty with how I feel about the idea. I imagine that it might be quite good for some people, but a blatant insult to others. Personally I think I would be the latter rather than the former.
